1. Cylinder Making
Based on the customer's design, a metal printing cylinder is engraved with the pattern. This cylinder acts as the "printing plate" and determines the sharpness of the final image.
2. Printing
The engraved cylinder is mounted on a rotogravure printing press. As the film unwinds, the cylinder transfers ink onto it layer by layer. For multi-color designs, the film passes through multiple stations, each applying a different color. Finally, a special adhesive layer is added to help the film bond to the product later.
3. Drying
After each color is applied, the film travels through heated ovens to dry the ink instantly. This prevents smearing and ensures each layer is set before the next step.
4. Slitting into Small Rolls
The large master roll is cut into smaller rolls using precision blades. This step customizes the film to the exact width and length required by the customer for their application machines.
5. Quality Inspection
Technicians carefully inspect each roll for defects like color issues, scratches, or misalignment. Samples are often test-applied to actual products to check adhesion and durability.
6. Packaging
Each roll is wrapped in protective materials (like bubble wrap) and sealed in moisture-proof bags to prevent damage from humidity, dust, and light during transit.
7. Shipping
The packaged rolls are labeled, placed into sturdy cartons, and shipped via air or sea to the customer, along with all necessary shipping documents.
