What are the differences between heat transfer film and IML labels?

6

1. Shape:
Heat transfer film is rolled up after printing.
IML labels are in sheet form, while IML labels are cut into sheets according to the customer's dimensions after production.

2. Application:
Heat transfer film is printed using a heat transfer machine, transferring the pattern from the film to the product surface.
IML labels are formed in one step using an injection molding machine, placing the label inside the film cavity and then molding it onto the product surface.

3. Decoration Area:
Heat transfer film is suitable for partial printing, while IML labels provide a full decorative effect.

4. Raw Materials and Thickness:
Heat transfer film is made from 20-micron thick PET raw material. IML labels use OPP raw material and come in various thicknesses.
Single-layer thicknesses are 18 microns and 40 microns. Through two-layer or three-layer lamination, even more thicknesses can be achieved, such as the common 70-micron and 90-micron thicknesses.
