Selection of in mold label thickness

 1. Clarify the application scenario requirements

666Recommended Application Type Thickness (in micrometers)

Core Considerations

*Ultra thin packaging (such as food containers) with a thickness of 18-30 μ m (0.018-0.03mm) is lightweight, low-cost, and requires high ductility materials (such as PP/PE)

*Conventional daily necessities (bottle caps, labels) 30-60 μ m (0.03-0.06mm) balance printing accuracy and demolding stability, suitable for PET/PP

*Complex structures (home appliance panels, 3D curved surfaces) 60-100 μ m (0.06-0.1mm) tear resistance, dimensional stability, requiring rigid materials (such as PET/PC)

2. Matching of materials and thickness

*PP (polypropylene):
18-50 μ m: Ultra thin packaging (such as yogurt cups), flexible and impact resistant, with low shrinkage rate.
> 50 μ m: Due to insufficient rigidity, the bonding may not be firm, and the injection pressure needs to be optimized.

*PET (polyester):
30-80 μ m: High precision printing (such as home electrical panels) requires thickness to support ink adhesion.
> 80 μ m: Suitable for high transparency or scratch resistance requirements, but requires extended cooling time.

*PC/ABS (Engineering Plastic):
50-100 μ m: High temperature resistant components (such as car interiors) require thickness to ensure they do not deform at high temperatures.
