Production process
Heat transfer film production steps:
1. Make Cylinder
A printing cylinder (or gravure roller) is engraved with the desired design. The cylinder’s surface is etched with tiny cells that hold ink for pattern transfer. Precision engraving ensures accurate color reproduction and print consistency.
2. Printing
The PET (or other substrate) film is fed into the printing machine. Ink is applied to the engraved cylinder and transferred onto the film in layers (depending on color requirements). Each color is printed separately, with registration marks ensuring alignment.
3. Drying
After printing, the film passes through a drying tunnel (hot air or UV curing). This step evaporates solvents and solidifies the ink to prevent smudging. Proper drying ensures adhesion and color fastness.
4. Cutting
The printed film is cut into rolls or sheets based on customer requirements. Precision slitting machines trim edges and divide the film into desired widths. Some films may be pre-cut into specific label sizes.
5. Quality Inspection
Visual and machine inspections check for defects (misprints, color shifts, scratches, etc.). Adhesion, color accuracy, and durability tests are performed. Only approved films move to the next stage.
6. Packaging & Shipping
The finished heat transfer film is carefully wound onto cores or stacked as sheets. Protective packaging (plastic wrap, carton boxes) prevents damage during transit. Labels with product details (size, material, batch number) are attached before shipping.
